Porsche has named the new LMP2 car, the "RS Spyder", thereby continuing a long line of Spyder prestige. The Spyder name was first used in 1953 with the Spyder 550 1500 RS. The most recent Porsche Spyder won the overall at the Le Mans 24 hour race in 1997. The car has recently completed three days of testing on the Estoril circuit in southern Portugal. Lucas Luhr and Sascha Maassen will share the cockpit for the inaugural race in Atlanta on October 1st. Read the

In recognition of 50 years of Porsche Club of America support, PCNA announced an exclusive 911 Carrera S Coupe specifically for PCA members. The model will feature a distinctive exterior color, unique interior styling and commemorative touches. The first tests of the new LMP2 car have concluded at the Porsche Research & Development Centre in Weissach. The new car is totally Porsche designed and constructed, from the carbon-fibre Kevlar body to the newly-developed engine, to the chassis and powertrain through to the suspension.

Panamera is the name of the new car recently registered by Porsche. Due out in 2008, this combination coupe/sedan is projected to be the successor to the 928. While secrecy veils the details, the engine for the new car will supposedly be the the same 4.5-liter V8 engine offered on the Cayenne. IMSA, in conjunction with Porsche Motorsport North America and Michelin,
has announced the creation of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Michelin. This series will feature the Porsche GT3 Cup race cars. This new series will enable amateur and semi-professional drivers to compete in a professional environment, similar to many other GT3 Cup series around the world. The races will run as part of the American Le Mans Series weekends.
